Message from the Chief Quality Assurance Officer’s desk

Welcome to the second half of 2017, from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) team! We’re over the mid-year bump and are thankfully heading into the warmer months, which I trust will be a busy, productive and enriching time for our members.

We extend our deepest sympathies to members whose properties were damaged or destroyed in the fires that recently devastated Knysna and surrounding areas. Please be assured of our full support and do not hesitate to contact us (or make use of our Basket of Benefits) should you need any assistance. Similarly, we join the country in hoping and praying for rain in the parched Western Cape.

As the Grading Council we’ve had a busy few months, during which we took Indaba by storm with our exclusive new enhancement to the show, the Lap of Luxury pavilion.

You can read more about this high-end platform in this newsletter, and also about our new partnership with HostEX, as well as testimonials from satisfied users of our Basket of Benefits service. We’re also excited to be part of South Africa’s new I Do Tourism campaign, and urge our members to embrace this important initiative too as it highlights the importance of tourism in every South African’s life.

We enjoyed meeting the trade at the recent Hotel Show Africa trade show, where we shared details of the new hotel classifications and what they mean to you. Watch this space for more details – we have some exciting developments in store that will help your establishment stand out from the pack and highlight your distinctive value proposition.

Thank you for all your ongoing support and patronage. Let’s keep working together to uphold the high standards of South Africa’s tourism industry.

All the best!

Darry
