MATCH Contract

MATCH AG ("MATCH") is the company appointed by FIFA to provide ticketing, accommodation and event information technology services to FIFA for the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, 2010 FIFA World Cup South AfricaTM, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and the 2014 FIFA World CupTM.

MATCH (based in Zürich, Switzerland) is a joint venture of two professional service companies Byrom plc. (based in Manchester, United Kingdom) and Eurotech Global Sports A.G. (based in Appenzell, Switzerland). MATCH was formed for the sole purpose of providing such services to FIFA for the aforementioned events. Both companies have individually supported FIFA in respect of past FIFA events in the areas of ticketing, accommodation and event information technology services.

The development of the MATCH contract was a consultative process:

  • A national workshop convened by the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism in 2006.
  • 17 workshops nationally over October-November 2006,  that included TGCSA and TEP.
  • A workshop with industry stakeholders in Zurich in January 2007. FEDHASA and the NAA participated.
  • Intensive consultation with FEDHASA and the NAA.
  • Various consultative meetings with stakeholders in each of the provinces.
MATCH formed a wholly owned South African subsidiary, MATCH Services PTY, to operate local activities in South Africa in connection with the 2010 FIFA World CupTM. When the host of the 2014 FIFA World CupTM is identified, another subsidiary of MATCH will be formed in the host country to manage and operate locally in that country.
