A Country House can be an existing home, a renovated home or a building that has been specifically designed as a residential dwelling to provide overnight accommodation.
It must have public areas for the exclusive use of its guests and be situated in natural, peaceful surroundings, such as near a nature reserve, beyond that of the immediate garden area.
Category Entry Requirements
All Stars
- Scenic or natural vista (beyond that of the immediate garden area) e.g. water view, rural outlook, mountain view or natural bush setting.
- Meals and beverages must be provided from outlets within the complex. (May / not be operated by the property.)
- Must have a formal reception area / appropriate meet and greet service.
- Servicing of rooms 7 days a week (includes linen/towel change, removal of rubbish and cleaning).
- Breakfast must be provided
- On site representative must be contactable 24 hours, 7 days a week.
- Plus some of the other requirements listed under 4 &5 Star minimum requirements list.
Additional for 4 & 5 Star
- Provides accommodation 7 days a week.
- Provides accommodation all year round.
- Has a formal reception area.
- Offers a dining facility.
- All meals, (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and beverages must be provided from outlets within the complex.
- On site parking with security for guests.
- Valet service available.
- Room service must be available.
- Concierge, porterage and luggage handling.
- Central Business Centre must be provided.
- A range of other miscellaneous services provided, e.g. message service, shoe polish, delivery of newspapers, etc.
- Full housekeeping and laundry services provided.
